In attempting to educate the “whole child” of the 21st century, The American Arts Academy believes that when students engage in the arts they have the opportunity to be smart in different ways. The arts :music, dance, theater, media, and visual arts are critical to the complete education of the whole child.

The performing and fine arts encourage each individual to work in a creative and collaborative way while developing independent and critical thinking skills. The arts create a climate of high expectations, respect for quality, and a commitment to excellence.

The American Arts Academy was founded as a response to the lack of cultural diversity and multicultural representation in the South African arts and culture sector.

Our aims are to offer a diverse range of people across the nation the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural context to develop new voices in culture. The academy gives a voice and a sense of social inclusion to under represented people.

We will promote social justice and proactively encourage inclusiveness, community development, individual and organisational participation.

Students emerging from the American Arts Academy will be equipped with a strong competitive edge, enabling them to launch their careers in the global marketplace and to stand their ground, both in their chosen fields and in other key areas of the movie business.
